Alexander McQueen Fashion House
“My clothes are designed for prosperity”.

The history of Alexander McQueen Fashion House is very interesting. It all started from the times when Lee Alexander McQueen was only 16. He left the school then to become a fashion designer and had a prosperous success in this career. He learned tailoring on Savile Row and pattern making from costumiers Angels and Bermans. His degree collection was shown in 1994 and was entirely bought by an eccentric British style icon and fashion editor Isabella Blow. She was the one who suggested using his middle name for the label.Alexander McQueen
Alexander McQueen’s early collections were famous for their controversy and shock tactics. The pieces designed by him were gorgeous and combined both British tailoring and French couture. The dresses cut in hourglass shape, frock coats with skinny pants, sharp suits, dark and romantic gowns covered in embroidery and lace – all these was Alexander McQueen’s signature. He also received numerous distinctions and awards. Namely in 2004 he was awarded the Best British Menswear Designer of the yearby the British Fashion Council. By that time the Alexander McQueen Fashion label was already partially owned by Gucci Group.
On the whole this Fashion House designs luxury accessories, women’s and men’s wear, but it has also introduced several fragrances, Kingdom and MyQueen among them, eyewear kits, handbags, jeans, shoes and has recently launched McQ label (2006) which is a more affordable and denim-based line of clothes. Alexander McQueen stores are situated mainly in London, Milan, New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and also there are several franchised stores in Istanbul and Moscow.
Alexander McQueen Fashion House successfully collaborated with various brands, such as Samsonite Black Label, Puma, M.A.C and others. Among the most famous clients of Alexander McQueen Fashion House are Sarah Jessica Parker, Cate Blanchett, Kate Moss and Kate Middleton, who wore a beautiful, elegant and finely-designed Alexander McQueen dress during her wedding to Prince William. Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was designed by a current creative director of the brand, Sarah Burton. She was McQueen’s right hand since 1996 and became the head of his Fashion House in 2010, the year when Lee Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London apartment. The cause of his death was suicide.

In September 2010 Sarah Jessica Parker, Kate Moss and Anna Wintour were among those who came to London to pay tribute to Alexander McQueen. By that time his company had debts of £32 million.Sarah Burton
But even after his death the Gucci Group announced that the House will continue its mission and will even participate in Paris Fashion Week. The following was a wise decision because McQueens’ show in Paris gained a huge success. So even after the death of its founder the famous brand exists and prospers under the management of Sarah Burton.
