Giorgio Armani Fashion House
World-known fashion brand Giorgio Armani was created by Giorgio Armani, an Italian fashion designer born 1934 in Piacenza. His name and name of the brand became the synonymous with high-fashion and couture worldwide and is considered one of the most prestigious names in the fashion industry.
In his youth Armani studied medicine in Milano University. But soon understood that it’s not the thing he is to do in life.
In 1957 right after the army future fashion designer Giorgio Armani applied for a window dresser in the biggest Italian boutique La Rinascente. 1961 to 1970, worked as an assistant designer at a fashion house Nino Cerruti, where he designed for the menswear label “Hitman”.
In 1970, he left the company to pursue freelance work. Giorgio partnered with Sergio Galeotti to establish a menswear label Armani in 1974 with capital, and introduced a womenswear line in 1975. The seed capital of the new-born fashion house Giorgio Armani was $10 000.
In 1985 Galeotti died of a heart attack due to AIDS at his home in Milan. And Giorgio Armani’s sister Rosanna Armani subsequently joined her brother.
Armani achieved his international breakthrough by tailoring for numerous Hollywood names: Richard Gere, George Clooney, Cate Blanchett, Trevor Donovan, Beyonce and many others.
Today, Armani employs about 4,700 employees and has 13 factories worldwide. It has nearly 300 stores in 36 countries. By 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful Italian designer, with an annual turnover of $1.7 billion, and a personal fortune of $5 billion.
The fashion house is knows for womenswear classic collections with elements of menswear design. Armani clothing is a lack of details, fits real elegance, pithiness and comfort.
The fashion house markets under several, highly-specialized sub-labels including:
- Giorgio Armani, high-end label specializing in men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, one of the most expensive including accessories, eyewear, cosmetics, and perfumes;
- Armani Collezioni, less expensive ready-to-wear line, being sold in freestanding boutiques;
- Emporio Armani, upscale label designed for young adults in their 20′s and 30′s, features ready-to-wear and accessories;
- Armani Jeans, a bridge-line collection of denim-related clothing, is mainly sold in department stores;
- AX | Armani Exchange, the youthful label, inspired by street-chic culture and fashionable dance music; is known for its provocative ad campaigns; includes fashion and lifestyle products, apparel, accessories, eyewear, watches, jewelry, and music;
- Armani Junior, children’s label, Armani Junior is available in 15 boutiques worldwide and select department stores;
- Armani/Casa a high-end home collection by Armani featuring furniture, lamps, linens, and dining essentials;
- Armani Priv?, haute couture line.
Moreover, Armani opened restaurant in the U.S., Armani/Ristorante. The restaurant opened in New York in February 2009 and has been rated by the Zagat Survey.
Talking about gargets by Armani, we can’t htlp mentioning that Giorgio Armani was joined by Samsung to design the Armani phone.
There are no boundaries for Giorgio. He is planning in collaboration with Emaar Properties a chain of luxury hotels and resorts in several big cities including Milan, Paris, New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai and Dubai. The fashion house already operates a range of caf?s worldwide, in addition to a bar, restaurant, and nightclub. And it seems to me, it is not the end!
